We are extremely happy to guest GLOYW in our artists log. Let’s start from the name that stands for “Brilliant” in welsh.

GLOYW is a new band featuring French guitar wizard and composer Olivier Mellano teamed with amazing drummer Régïs Boulard. The two are already performing as a duo under the name of No&Rd : we issued their debut album “One” in 2021 (Unifaun Productions UP007).

The duo teamed with the great welsh (but long time now parisian) bass player and composer John Greaves, well known to our customers for the many releases we issued in the last years and, of course, for being an original member of Henry Cow as well as National Health etc.

Needless to say that the music, half composed and half improvised, has a terrific, innovative, original sound where all their glorious past and noble influences are noticeable even though the band sound is really new and similar to no one else. Drums, bass and guitar: as simple as that one may think, if unaware of the mind blowing sounds from Mellano’s guitar. Boulard is also a member of the new John Greaves Band that feature the likes of Mel Collins, Jakko Jakszyk, Annie Whitehead and Annie Barbazza.

My Father Was A Tree is composed by 9 originals and a fantastic cover of John Lennon’s Working Class Hero.
