The thirtieth anniversary of the publication of "Nymphae", the group's first album, sees the realization of the dream of Lethe's founder, Stefano Fornaroli, to whom the work itself is dedicated.
"Il cavaliere inesistente", inspired by the novel of the same name by Italo Calvino, consists of 12 songs whose changing atmospheres fit into the tradition of historical Italian progressive rock (PFM, Banco, Osanna, etc.)
The events of Agilulfo (the nonexistent knight of the title) and the characters connected to him unfold through a succession of agitated and pastoral moments: the beautiful Bradamante, the young Rambaldo and Torrismondo, the grotesque squire Gurdulù, etc.
The setting in an ironic and imaginary Middle Ages is the starting point for a criticism - sometimes sarcastic, sometimes bitter - on the absurdity of war and the emptiness of bureaucracy.
The current lineup of Lethe is composed of:
Giacomo Balzarotti - lead vocals and backing vocals
Serena Bruni - transverse flute
Lorenzo Gervasi - keyboards
Pietro Paganelli - drums and percussion
Fabio Massimo Sanzo - electric bass and backing vocals
Valerio Vado - guitars, effects
"Il cavaliere inesistente" also features two exceptional guests:
Alessandro Corvaglia - lead vocals and backing vocals in the songs "Mura di fuoco" and "Animali cristiano" and Eleonora Mosca - lead vocals and backing vocals in several songs.
