The new remastered version of Moongarden's masterpiece "Voyeur" finally returns after a few years of being out of print.
In addition to the remastering carried out by Cristiano Roversi, the new re-edition includes a 20-page booklet with the story and lyrics, all with drawings by the great Ed Unitsky.
Voyeur is a concept album. The story is told of VICKEY known as MOUSE, a cleaner of a skyscraper in New York with the habit of spying on the most intriguing characters and the strangest situations which are filmed by micro-cameras expertly placed in the most hidden corners of the various apartments.
After a careful selection, Vickey has identified 6 characters worthy of being followed on a regular basis….
These characters are described in all their nuances in the various songs on the album....
In detail:
In BARBITURATES GENTLEMAN, Vickey spies on a wealthy gentleman who has only one hobby in life: that of always experimenting with new barbiturates to induce deep sleep in the shortest possible time!
In MR.MOORE Vickey spies on the secret life of a conservative and deeply Catholic politician who cultivates his passion for transsexuals in private.
In THE USURPER you analyze the torment of a character who thinks all day about how to improve his social status by planning moves to attack his best friends from behind to take their place.
In SHINY EYES, Vickey is moved by witnessing the first intimate encounter between very young lovers who lose themselves in each other's gazes...
In TV QUEEN, Vickey enjoys spying on a newly married housewife completely addicted to all the reality shows that are broadcast on the various private networks in the area….
Finally, in MESSAGE FROM THE LAST FLOOR, Vickey has a surreal and magical experience in witnessing the launch of a message inside a bottle towards the night sky of New York by a gentleman who lives in the penthouse on the top floor of the skyscraper … The bottle instead of falling will continue to rise towards space….
Musically speaking, the band (while remaining firmly anchored to the Genesis school) continues its path towards an overall renewal of the Progressive Rock genre by contaminating and rewriting its DNA. Elements of classic progressive rock continually intersect with atypical influences in the genre such as Alternative Rock and Post Rock, experiments with electronic music, Heavy Metal, Funk and Synth Pop without ever losing sight of the central objective: that of writing and proposing “good songs that are also easy to listen to”.
“Voyeur” could also be considered as a summation of the musical experiences faced by the band in the last 20 years: everything recurs in a spiral of continuous changes of atmosphere and harmonic experimentations.
