With "Tarlo," Il Bacio della Medusa returns with a new nine-track album, in which the band preserves the rock power and soul that have always defined their journey, while simultaneously displaying a renewed compositional and expressive maturity.
The sound and arrangements are enriched by new harmonic and tonal approaches, without losing the natural fluidity of the song structure—long one of the group's strengths. The piano takes center stage, accompanied by classical instruments and electric elements that help create an eclectic work rich in nuance.
The album’s central theme is encapsulated in its title: the "tarlo" (woodworm) becomes a metaphor for the thought that slowly burrows into the human soul, sowing unease, doubts, and questions. It represents the seed of rebellion and inner transformation, but also reflects the contradictions of contemporary society—contradictions capable of constantly challenging certainties, identities, and individual freedoms. Through nine tracks of great emotional and musical impact, "Tarlo" leads the listener on a journey of confronting what consumes us from within, as well as the very restlessness that can spark change.
The album concludes the socially-themed trilogy that began with "Seme" and reaffirms Il Bacio della Medusa’s status as one of the most distinctive and recognizable acts in the Italian prog scene: a work where rock energy, narrative depth, and musical exploration coexist in perfect balance.
