PAUL ROLAND, gurú del psychpop y padrino del steampunk, lanza su 25.° álbum de estudio.

'Wyrd Tales of an Antiquary' proporciona más evidencia de la continua madurez y desarrollo de Roland como cantautor con un estilo único y distintivo y como compositor de música clásica contemporánea. El álbum presenta una colección de lo que él llama 'canciones narrativas extendidas' (es decir, canciones de más de 8 minutos compuestas de varios segmentos que cuentan una historia corta completa) e interludios instrumentales tomados de su 'Grimm Fantasy For Orchestra' (aquí en su forma de demostración original con todos los instrumentos tocados por el compositor.)

La combinación de los interludios pastorales y las canciones acústicas delicadamente orquestadas crean una atmósfera que evoca oscuros cuentos de hadas e inquietantes encuentros sobrenaturales, una mezcla que le ha valido a Roland una selección y seguidores ferozmente leales que continúan creciendo con cada nuevo lanzamiento y aparición en vivo.

“No tenía la intención de grabar otro álbum en solitario, pero hace tres años me invitaron a contribuir con dos canciones nuevas a un proyecto de HP Lovecraft y cuando eso se pospuso, descubrí que tenía suficientes canciones para agregarles para hacer un álbum en solitario. (incluidas tres inspiradas en las atmosféricas historias de fantasmas inglesas de M.R. James, una de las cuales, 'Lost Hearts', era una breve suite con una narración que habría formado el núcleo de una ópera de cámara). Entonces, todo pareció encajar maravillosamente y honestamente puedo decir que ningún otro álbum mío me ha dado tanto placer y satisfacción de hacer o escuchar y espero que a otros les guste tanto”.

En otras palabras, otra joya de uno de los mejores compositores vivos, el favorito de John Peel desde hace mucho tiempo: una obra maestra íntima con un sabor folk/compositor.
