INSOMNIA was born in Turin in 2012 from the meeting of a group of musicians, some of whom return to the scene after more than 25 years. All lovers of the symphonic prog, begin to work on the project of an old-style concept album, using the classic sounds of the 70-80s (hammond, mellotron, clavinet, rhodes, moog) at the service of new ideas. Thus was born "Brainshock", which after many vicissitudes and changes of formation, sees the light in October 2019. Brainshock is a concept that explores the limits of the human mind and its reactions in the face of stressful situations, in which each song retraces a story inspired by real facts, linked to that subtle and invisible boundary that separates socially normal behaviors from madness. It narrates the lives - all turned upside down - of a Russian colonel (that Stanislav Petrov who averted the nuclear missile attack in the middle of the cold war), a knight, a murderer. And then a priest with his remorse, or the extreme experience of an astronaut from the Apollo mission. In the eight tracks on the CD, the sounds and arrangements wink at legendary progressive bands, but without giving up attention to the melodic sense of the compositions. The Brainshock album was presented in Turin and the DVD "Brainshock Live 2019" is about to be released.
